Phulkari is a traditional embroidery technique originating from Pakistan and India, known for its vibrant colours and intricate threadwork. Participants will create Islamic inspired motifs using phulkhari. All supplies will be provided.

Instructor Bio:
Rafia Shafiq is an artist and the owner of Dhaga Art, a platform that showcases her expertise in phulkhari embroidery. Her phulkari workshops have gained significant popularity throughout the Toronto Region. She conducts these workshops at various venues, including museums, textile shows, universities and art galleries.

By teaching this traditional art form, Rafia aims to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of phulkari embroidery. In addition to her workshops, Rafia also focuses on creating custom, one-of-a-kind embroidered pieces. Clients interested in her work can place orders through Dhaga Art’s Instagram page (@dhaga.art).
