Mississauga’s First Muslim Community Centre holds a Fundraising Gala

Mississauga, ON (February 4, 2019) — The Tawheed Community Centre is a registered charity that aims to provide support and resources to enrich the lives of Toronto Muslims through cultural, social, spiritual and recreational experiences. TCC is scheduled to open in Mississauga in the fall of 2023.

“If you’re teaching your children about Islam and educating about the religion while presenting a rational and compassionate understanding of Islam…most of it won’t stick if they don’t have the right environment to grow,” said Ibrahim Hindy, Imam of Tawheed Community Centre.

The TCC’s goal is to be a place where youth and adults can play basketball, take a swim, attend a workshop, be an inspiring space for entrepreneurs to elevate their business, celebrate life events, and more. TCC will also take it a one step further to host engaging events for non-Muslims who are interested to learn more about Islam to foster an open and positive discourse with individuals of all faiths.

TCC is holding a fundraising gala at Capitol Banquet Hall on Friday February 22, 2019 with keynote speaker Melanie Elturk, the hilarious host Salma Hindy, and entertainment of Deen Squad. An inspiring evening that is expected to draw over 200 supporters including participating businesses. Sponsorship packages are available for interested businesses that would like to support the project. 100% of the proceeds will go towards building TCC. Learn more about TCC at
